Are You Available in the Evening?
“Mike & Shannon”
Mike called me about a house on Horseshoe Lake in Northfield Township. He asked if I was available to show the home. I said, “of course”, arranged the showing for the following evening and met Mike and his girlfriend, Shannon, at the house. The house was listed two days earlier and was being offered as a short sale. The house looked great, and it was priced well. I knew there would be competition when I saw the twelve Realtor business cards on the counter.
When we met at the house, Mike mentioned that they were impressed with how quickly I had called them back, and especially happy that I could meet them in the evening. I jokingly told him that I was available whenever people who need to buy a house are, and since they have jobs, most are looking at houses after work or on the weekend. They said they had looked at a few houses with another agent (one who has quite a bit of experience), but they were put off, because she was never willing to meet them during the evening, only during the day. I was flabbergasted! Really?
Mike and Shannon liked the house and wanted to write an offer. I contacted the listing agent to see if there were any other offers, and there were already four others. We submitted a good bid, and the agent called for everyone’s highest and best offer by 5:00PM the next day. Mike & Shannon didn’t like the house enough to change their offer, and they didn’t get the house.
We looked at a few other homes, and they chose the one they liked the best in a neighborhood with some of the nicest people I have ever met. I negotiated a great deal with the bank who owned the house, and the deal was done. Mike and Shannon couldn’t be happier with their choice of homes or Realtor. I have friends and clients for life. I have even helped some members of their family sell their home.
